Night Time Skin Care Routine

Recently, I have been really looking after my skin because it’s getting warmer now and I’m not a fan of too much makeup in the heat, however this means that I need to keep my skin looking the best it can, makeup-less. I’m not one to use copious amounts of products because frankly, it takes too long and also my skin has a tendency to break out when I mess with it too much. I enjoy testing out new products to find the ones that work best for me so my skincare routine is forever changing, but these are the products I am loving right now in the order that I use them:

First I use the Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in1 Wash and Mask to ensure my face is thoroughly clean before I start putting precast on it. I have been using this for years and I love it so much because it can be used as either a normal face wash on wet skin or as a mask on dry skin and it works extremely effectively. Whenever I feel a spot is about to make an appearance, this wash is my lifesaver as it tones down the effects of spots immediately.

If I haven’t worn any makeup and I’m having a lazy day I will use the Garnier Micellar Water to cleanse my face of any dirt that may have built up on my skin throughout the day. It’s perfect for use on the daily and/or on sensitive skin.

Once my face is completely clean, I go over it with the Simple Kind To Skin Facial Toner 200 ml poured onto cotton wool and this refreshes and cools my skin, prepping it for everything else. I don’t know if this is the best toner out there but it does the job fine and I have been using this brand for years, I find it is especially great if you have sensitive skin. I always go back to ‘Simple’ products when my skin ever gives me any problems as I’m always confident I can trust it to not cause any further irritation.

My skin is naturally very dry so it’s important I provide it with a lot of moisture. The two products I have been using lately are the Midnight Recovery Concentrate and the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Night Cream. I apply the Kiehls concentrate first onto bare skin, allowing it to absorb all the moisturising goodness. It is not the cheapest product out there, costing around £50 a bottle but personally I think it is worth every penny. It’s an oil but it doesn’t feel too greasy when applied and it sinks into the skin so nicely and will deal with any dry areas you have. Following that, I will apply the No7 cream for extra moisturization; the consistency is thick and luxurious and it feels great on the skin.

The final step of my routine is to use an eye cream, I apply this under my eyes with my ring fingers only; using these fingers prevent excess tugging on the skin. The one I have been using recently is the Garnier Ultralift Eye Cream and to be honest I’m not too knowledgeable about eye creams, nor do I know which ones are good or bad but I use them just because I feel like I should and whenever one runs out, I just try another type and hope for the best.
